Years in Business

History

Kremer Services, LLC (originally known as “Kremer Spring”) has been a cornerstone of the Twin Cities transportation industry for nearly 130 years.

Established in 1898 by Henry Kremer, an immigrant from France. He came to this country in 1888 with the dream of starting his own blacksmith shop in the new world. He opened his business on Twelfth Street in St. Paul. He immediately began manufacturing leaf springs for horse-drawn buggies, carriages, and wagons.

With the advent of the automobile, it was only natural for Henry to continue manufacturing leaf springs for these new horseless vehicles. In 1940, Henry Kremer decided to retire. He turned the business over to his son, Harry L. Kremer.

In 1941, Harry expanded the business into frame repair and wheel aligning. The business continued to grow and expand. It eventually outgrew its space, and the business was moved to a new location on West 7th Street in St. Paul. In 1960, Harry Kremer turned over the business to his son, Hank Kremer. Hank carried on the traditions of integrity, hard work, and honest service established by his father and grandfather.

As the business continued to expand, it again outgrew its building. In 1974, another move was in store. This time, the business was moved to its current location in Inver Grove Heights. In the years since that time, the business has continued to grow and expand. Services were added, including auto body repair, truck and bus body repair, and painting.

At the end of 2002, the business was transitioned to the fourth generation of Kremer ownership. Tracey (Kremer) and her husband Mike purchased the business from Hank and Bonnie Kremer. In the years since then, the business has continued to grow. Additional services such as engine repair and frame replacement have been added to the long list of services already in place.

At the turn of 2026, the business was once again transitioned. Mike and Tracey’s daughter, Arianna, and her husband Jeremy took over. This makes the company a very rare fifth-generation family business.

As we move into the future, we remain committed to the basic traditions of integrity, hard work, and honest service. We look forward to carrying on the traditions of our family-owned and managed business well into the future.
