As you head on the road this Memorial Day weekend, make sure that your vehicle will be in the best condition. You always want your vehicle to be in a safe and reliable condition, but this is especially true when having a weekend getaway. Keep up to date with the recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle. If you are not sure how often this should be, you can look in the owner’s manual. We can also advise on when certain tasks and maintenance should be done. Before taking any long trip, make sure to have your vehicle in for a bumper to bumper inspection done.

Road conditions and Traffic

With people on the road, make sure to drive safe and smart. Allow enough space between you and the vehicle ahead of you. If they slam on their brakes, having adequate time and space is important. By allowing space, there is a decrease in the chance of an accident to occur. Always be aware of the traffic around you. If the weather is less than ideal or the traffic is heavy, slow down the speed you are driving. Also make sure you are aware of any road construction or detours that you might encounter. By leaving in plenty of time, you will not feel the rush and frustration to speed to get there in time.

Also remember that if the windshield wipers are operating, the headlights for the car should be on as well. If it is raining, early morning, or later in the afternoon, the headlights will help others to see your car, reducing an accident. Make sure that the lights are checked regularly. If a bulb is out, make sure to bring it in. We can inspect the lights and the placement of them as well. Any issues can be fixed quickly to help get you back on the road for a safe drive.
