Getting your vehicle ready for summer vacation is important. When you are on the road, the last thing you will want is to have unexpected car trouble. Make sure to bring your vehicle in regularly of maintenance inspections. If you are not sure how often this should be, make sure to contact us and we can advise you on the correct schedule.

A pre-trip vehicle inspection is the best way to be car care aware and ensure that your car is ready to get you to your destination. This should include the brake system to ensure the rotors and brake pads are in the best condition and are efficient. The battery will also need to be inspected to ensure the connections are clean, tight, and corrosion free.

The fluid levels will need to be topped off. This includes the engine oil, power steering, brake, and transmission fluid. The windshield wipers fluid should also be inspected and topped off. This will allow you the best visibility by removing insects and road grime that are on the windshield.

Having the filters inspected is also necessary. Dirty air filters can waste gas and cause the engine to lose power. Check the hoses and belts that can become cracked, brittle, frayed, loose or show signs of excessive wear. These are critical to the proper functioning of the electrical system, air conditioning, power steering, and the cooling system.

Remember to have the tires inspected as well. The pressure and tread are important because both will help the tires to be efficient. Under inflated tires can reduce the fuel economy and increase the chance for the tires to blow out.

Taking steps to have these repairs performed before long distance driving this summer will not only give you peace of mind, but will also help avoid the inconvenience and potential safety hazards of breaking down when you are miles from home.
