To help keep your vehicle safe on the road, make sure to inspect the tires regularly. In order to keep the tires in the best condition possible, make sure to check the condition they are in, how they are wearing, and also the air pressure. Not only will monitoring the air pressure help you have a longer road life for them, but it will mean you have less chance of getting a flat or being in an accident with bald tires. Tire pressure is easy to check and can be done at home in just a few seconds. If you notice that you have to add air to the tires often, it could indicate a leak in the tire. Make sure to bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the tire for you. If a new tire is needed, we can recommend which one would be best for your vehicle. Noticing an issue with the tires early can help prevent further damage being done to them in the future.

The Tires should be checked on a Regular Basis

To check the tire pressure, you need a tire pressure gauge to measure it. The gauge will have a device that sticks out to tell you how many pounds per square inch are inside the tire. To find it, remove the cover from the stem on the tire. Place the gauge directly over and press down so the opening pushes out the measuring device. Make sure to consult the vehicle owner’s manual so you know the correct amount of air pressure that should be in the tires. If the tire is correct, put the cap back on tightly and move to the next tire. Check all four tires each time you do so since it only takes a few seconds and each tire needs to be the same amount. Even if the tires are starting to look low, make sure to check the air pressure. This is important because having the correct air pressure can help the tire to wear properly and improve your fuel mileage when you drive.

Check the Tires if they start to look Low

When you do not check the air pressure regularly, it can get too low. Low tire pressure can do harm to your vehicle, but especially the tires. When they are not inflated correctly, then they will wear heavily and not get the life expectancy that was on the manufacturer’s suggestion. They could also wear unevenly, causing your car to handle poorly, even in good conditions. Tires without the correct pressure also have a higher chance of becoming flat from an object such as a nail, stick, or other sharp object. A properly inflated tire would be able to repel sharp things easier. Proper air pressure can help extend the life of the tires as well.

Know when to Inspect the Tires

If you cannot take the time to check your air pressure monthly, then it needs to be done seasonally. The weather will affect the tires and how much air is in them, so you need to makes adjustments according to the season. There will naturally be a dissipation of air, so it needs to be added gradually in order to keep the levels up. You can also bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the tires for you.
